Steam Sales: When to Get the Best Deals

Steam runs seasonal and themed sales. Check the current schedule and compare the offers for the game you want.

  • Summer Sale (June–July) — the biggest sale of the year, lasting ~2 weeks
  • Winter Sale (December–January) — the second largest, coinciding with the holiday season
  • Autumn Sale (early October since 2025) — coincides with Steam Awards nominations
  • Spring Sale (March) — a major sale with a wide range of discounts

Additionally, publishers regularly run their own promotions, and themed events such as Steam Scream Fest (late October) offer discounts on specific genres.

Prices come from the Steam Store for every region; ≈ $ uses the ECB rate, for comparison only. Currencies are never mixed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check a Steam game's price?

Enter the game name in our search bar. You'll see the current price, active discounts, and prices across 15 regions worldwide. Data is loaded directly from the Steam store.

Why do prices differ between countries?

Steam uses regional pricing that allows publishers to set different prices based on each country's purchasing power. However, changing your region to get lower prices violates Steam's Terms of Service.

When is the best time to buy games?

Compare the offer with the game’s price history and check its terms. A discount percentage alone does not show whether it is a good price.

How often do Steam sales happen?

Steam holds four major seasonal sales per year: Spring (March), Summer (June–July), Autumn, and Winter (December–January), plus themed events such as Steam Scream Fest in late October. The Lunar New Year sale was retired in 2023. Publishers also run their own promotions year-round.
