How we check Steam

Every status change goes into the journal: 90 days of when Steam was down and for how long.

Every five minutes we check the Steam Store, Community and Web API — every minute while players report problems.

We call an outage after two failed checks in a row, and only when our own connection is fine.

Steam is back after two good checks in a row, so the status doesn't flicker.

Response times are measured from our server, not from your region.
