About Agents

Agents are full-body character skins that replace the default Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist player model in CS2.

They are purely cosmetic and grant no gameplay advantage, though some agents draw debate because their muted color schemes can blend into certain map backgrounds. Each agent is locked to a single faction: a Terrorist agent only appears when you are on T side, and a CT agent only on CT side, so kitting out both sides means owning two separate items.

The cheapest is Soldier (Phoenix) at $3.40; the dearest, Sir Bloody Miami Darryl (The Professionals) at $59.91.

Rarity tiers and the factions

Agents use the standard cosmetic color tiers rather than weapon-skin grades: Distinguished (blue) is the most common and cheapest, then Exceptional (purple), Superior (pink), and Master (red) as the rarest top tier. The roster spans both sides — Terrorist groups such as Phoenix, the Elite Crew, the Professionals and Sabre, and CT groups including SAS, FBI, SWAT, the Guerrilla Warfare/separatist sets and the NSWC SEAL frogmen. Master-tier characters like the SEAL and crew-themed agents command the highest prices, while Distinguished operators from Shattered Web are the entry point.

Demand pockets: cheapest vs most wanted

The cheapest way to run a non-default character is a Distinguished agent, several of which sit near the bottom of the market. Mid-range demand clusters around clean, recognizable Exceptional and Superior models that read well on common maps. The most sought agents are Master-tier and visually distinctive picks; some players specifically chase low-visibility agents whose dark or desaturated outfits are harder to spot, which is the recurring 'pay-to-win visibility' discussion in the community.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use any agent on either team?

No. Every agent is faction-locked. A Terrorist agent only shows on T side and a Counter-Terrorist agent only on CT side. To customize both sides you need to own one agent for each faction.

What are the agent rarity tiers?

From most common to rarest: Distinguished (blue), Exceptional (purple), Superior (pink), and Master (red). Master-tier agents are the rarest and generally the most expensive.

Are agents tradable and marketable?

Most agents are tradable and sell on the Steam Community Market once the standard trade hold from acquisition has passed. A few earned directly from operation rewards may have had temporary restrictions, but the bulk of the pool circulates freely.

Do agents have different exteriors or float values like weapon skins?

No. Agents have no wear/float and no StatTrak. Each agent is a single fixed model with one appearance, so the only variable is which character you choose.
